Make a difference with the Husky E-Motion
In 2022, Prinoth launched the world's first electric snow groomer. It is emission-free and can help ski resorts reduce their ecological footprint.
The Husky E-Motion is on the market since 2022 and has been bought by ski resorts and cross-country centers in Norway, Sweden, France, Italy and the USA. The Husky E-Motion is emission-free - and even more powerful than the diesel model. The electric motor delivers 245 hp and an instant torque of 1,000 Nm. With a runtime of up to three hours, most cross-country trails and smaller slopes are groomed before the 208 kWh battery needs to be recharged.
The first buyer was the city of Oslo, where all city-owned vehicles and machines are to be emission-free by 2025. In February 2023 the Husky E-Motion was put into operation at Holmenkollen and has since been in daily use, supporting the preparation of the World Cup trails. "The Husky E-Motion is ideal for use at Holmenkollen," says Håvard Ellingsen, department manager at Oslobygg, the municipal company responsible for operating the national ski arena.
In the USA the winter season 2023-24 marks the introduction of the first zero emission electric groomers into North America and the recipients couldn’t be more excited.
One of the Husky E-Motion groomers is headed for Taos, New Mexico, USA. Taos ski resort knows the importance of sustainability, and one of the ways they are committing to reducing carbon emission, and achieving net zero emissions by 2023, is through the utilization of the CO2-free Husky E-Motion.
On the other side of the skiing spectrum lies Sleepy Hollow Inn, Ski and Bike Center a Nordic skiing facility located in Huntington, Vermont, USA. Sleepy Hollow offers 32km of groomed trails for classic and skate skiing. General Manager Eli Enman is “super excited to have an electric E-Motion on the way. It’s going to be quieter, less expensive to operate, and no more diesel fuel! We can’t wait until it’s here. It’s going to be a great addition for us this winter.”
